Mongolian Ping Pong (2005)

A boy finds a ping pong ball, doesn't know what it is attempts to figure it out.

Rating: 7/10

The Good:
-It shows the environment and you can appreciate simple things.
-The whole thing is innocent in the sense that he doesn't know what this little ball is, and even though it's just a random object it is what pushes him to do the things he does and basicailly gives him a purpose. It shows how simple humans are and at first one may think how dumb this may be to 'worship' this ball, but everyone goes though something similar and it gives this outlook on humanity in general -how people are either afraid or more curious about things they don't know (like how old tribes would worship the sun becuase they could not understand what it was). This could be disected further much like anything out there but to watch this movie you much understand that not only is it from a child's point of view but it also reminds us that we all got this 'stuff' we consider sacred to ourselves even though most of the time it's no different than his ball and we are really quite simple creatures that have a need for constant curiosity and answers.

The Sucketh:
-This film is really slow and a lot of people would probabaly not make it past the first half hour.
-For real city folk this could be quite a shocker seeing that there's actually people out there without tv sets and electricity for that matter.
-I don't remember there even being an OST, it has a lot of patches of silence which fit this film but once again many people may find it boring.
-There doesn't seem a climax, it's quite like a day in the life of type of story, so it's quite dull in that sense.
